Justin Mohn allegedly shot and beheaded his government employee dad, 68-year-old Michael F. Mohn, in a bathroom at his parents' home in the 100 block of Upper Orchard Drive, in Middletown Township on Jan. 30, 2024, DA Jennifer Schorn explained citing the police investigation.
Authorities believe Justin Mohn was "of clear mind" when he supposedly decided to kill his father, carry out the act, and flee, as stated in a press conference on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Judge Stephen Corr made the ruling that Mohn is competent to stand trial following a five-hour hearing on the matter.
Dr. Kelly Chamberlain, a forensic psychologist, testified about two interviews she held with Mohn where she found him to "be intelligent, calm and socially appropriate," NBC Philadelphia reported following the hearing. Dr. John Markey, interviewed Mohn four times "and determined at first that he had schizophrenia, but on Thursday said it was a delusional disorder instead," according to the outlet.
Evidence in the home and Justin's political rants on YouTube video including the video with his father's head, titled "Mohn's Militia - Call To Arms For American Patriots," were cited as merely his beliefs. DA Schorn said the following about this at the end of the press conference:
"Aside from what his beliefs are he was of clear mind doing this."
He has been held at Bucks County CFI and his preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Charles D. Jonas at 10 a.m. on Aug. 22.
Before this deadly incident, Justin Mohn showed some odd behavior that manifested itself in a series of bizarre federal lawsuits that ended in Dec. 2023. Click here to read all the details we found in those federal court documents.
